Crystals For...

Calming crystals like lepidolite are usually good for sleep. Grounding crystals work too but be sure to speak your intentions over the crystals beforehand or else they will do whatever they want. Choose the crystal that fits best with your energy.

When choosing crystals for meditation, it's best to choose crystals that align with your objective. Crystals like kyanite, help clear and open all energy channels which means you can go up into the higher realms while staying grounded and connected. If you don't have multi-chakra crystals, be sure to pair your higher energy stones with a grounding stone. You could also start your meditation with the higher stone and end it with a grounding stone.  Or if you have excess head energy (excessive thinking, etc.) use a grounding stone.

Grief affects the whole body. Clear stones, and stones like kyanite, work with the whole system helping to clear and harmonize. Pink and Green stones like Unakite aid in heart healing and because grief can be destabilizing, brown and black stones like Brown Obsidian or Smoky Quartz can help clear negative energy and anchor you during times of distress. Be careful when using fire element and red stones when going through the stages of grief. Anger is a natural part of the grieving process but must be processed through conscious and delicate means.

When shopping for prosperity crystals, start with crystals that are associated with the heart. Prosperity is defined as happiness, joy, pleasure, and fulfillment. To know what brings you those things starts with the heart and works its way into the lower centers of the body.

  • Sacral stones (usually orange-ish red)  help to uncover our passions and creativity this brings more pleasure and satisfaction into our lives.
  • Once we've discovered what brings us pleasure, we have to be brave enough to go get it. This is where the Solar Plexus comes in (Usually yellow-ish stones)
  • After we've spent some time blazing a new path, we have to make it sustainable. The root chakra (red and black stones) helps us to clear any fear we have about making this a life. This could be literally anything, coming out as queer, poly, or moving into a different career path.
  • Oh, and this cycles back up to the throat (usually blue, Kyanite strongly recommended) because you've gotta be able to speak your truth and ask for what you want, right?

All crystals are healing. Start with the crystal that you feel drawn to and work your way through from there. You can also, work with AP (all-purpose) Crystals like Clear quartz, Anadalite, or Kyanite.

Crystals for love usually involve pink and green crystals, most specifically rose quartz and kunzite. There are tons of heart-healing, love-attracting crystals but be sure to use them with root and solar plexus crystals to ensure that you are choosing to love from the right places.

 For Beginners

Most beginners start with Amethyst, Rose Quartz, Clear Quartz, Tiger's Eye, etc. These are basic, easy-to-work-with crystals that are generally ready to work with anybody. But to have the best experience with crystals as a beginner, choose the one that grabs your attention.

Good Luck

Good luck is all about good vibes. Choose green, yellow and metallic stones like pyrite and green aventurine.

Garnet, Onyx, or crystals associated with the fire element are typically good for activating energy. But you could also drink some coffee or take a nap.

Confidence comes from the solar plexus and is linked to the fire and earth elements. Popular stones for confidence are Tiger's Eye, Citrine, Yellow Jasper, Carnelian, and Bumblebee Jasper.

Self-love is a worthy pursuit and crystals like Unakite, Bumblebee Jasper, Rose Quartz, Lapis Lazuli, Kunzite, Green Emerald, and Mangano Calcite will help you get there.

Crystals should always be chosen intuitively. While you'll find lists all over the internet for anxiety crystals, they won't always work that way. It's important to understand what the anxiety stems from and choose crystals that align with that.

For example, if your anxiety is rooted in a lack of confidence, crystals that support confidence building are the right ones to work with. If your anxiety comes from being in your head too much, grounding crystals are your friend.

And lastly, If your anxiety circles around stability and finances, it would be best to work with the Root chakra and Prosperity Crystals.

To Attract Money

There are no crystals that attract money per se. Meaning you can't put a Jade crystal outside today and find money stuffed underneath it tomorrow. Crystals help clear the behaviors and mindsets that keep you from having the money you want.

  • Root Chakra stones will help you clear budget issues.
  • Heart Stones will help you figure out what you really want to do.
  • Sacral Stones will help with passion and creativity.
  • Communications stones will help with asking for a raise, speaking your truth, and marketing.
  • Confidence stones will help you take on bold new ventures.
  • All of these stones will result in higher vibrations, more satisfaction, and most importantly more cash.

High Vibrational Crystals

High vibrational crystals are crystals that carry strong, catalyzing energies that connect you with the higher realms. Crystals like Kyanite, Selenite, Larvikite, Sugilite, Anandalite, Moldavite, and Apophyllite are considered high vibrational crystals.

Crystals and Chakras

When using crystals to do chakra work, the easiest way is to choose by color. Always choose intuitively and know that chakras work together so there will be some overlap.

Sacral Chakra

Crystals associated with the fire elements are typically very good for the sacral chakra. Crystals like Citrine, Fire Agate, Carnelian, Orange Aventurine, and Bumblebee Jasper are my favorite crystals to use when working with the sacral chakra.

Root Chakra

Crystals like Tourmaline, Red jasper, Black obsidian, and Black Kyanite are really good crystals to use when healing and balancing the root chakra.

Crystal Cleansing & Charging

How do you cleanse crystals?

The easiest way to cleanse a crystal is to pair it with a cleansing + charging crystal like selenite.

How do you charge crystals?

Crystals can be charged by burying them in the earth, leaving them in sunlight/moonlight for a few hours, or placing them on charging crystals like selenite.

How long do crystals stay charged?

It varies by the vibrational output of the crystal. If you are doing a lot of work with the crystal, recharge the crystal once or twice a week. If you have a selenite charging plate, you can also put the crystal on the plate nightly.

How long do you have to wear a crystal for it to work?

5 secs. Crystals get to work right away moving and shifting energy in your body. Ideally, you want to keep a new crystal close to you for a few days so that it can connect with your energy, much like bonding. Keep the crystal with you for as long as you feel connected to it.

Crystal How To's & General Questions

How do crystals work?

Crystals work in lots of different ways.

Some work like agitators, provoking you until you pay attention to the things that trouble you.

Some act as energy exchangers, meaning they pull "bad" energy out of your body and into the stone, replacing it with their clean energy.

Some work like drain cleaner, dislodging and dissolving "stuck" energy in the body.

Some work like a therapist, bringing things up for review in a series of "aha!" moments.

Others work like a vortex, pulling and sucking energy to get everything aligned and working together.

How much do crystals cost?

Crystal costs can range from $1 to millions depending on quality, cut, rarity and capitalism.

How to use crystals

Crystals can be used in a variety of ways.

As jewelry, make sure the crystal comes in contact with your skin.

Necklace: When not wearing for aesthetic purposes, keep the gem tucked in your shirt so that it remains in contact with your skin.

Bracelet: To direct the crystal's energy outward, towards others, wear the bracelet on your dominant hand (the hand you write with or use most often). To direct the crystal's energy inward toward you, wear the bracelet on your non-dominant wrist.

Reiki: Clear and charge your favorite stones and lay on a flat surface.  Place each stone over its associated energy center. Ask the crystals to work together to help clear and align your energy. Close your eyes and allow them to do their work. Pulling sensations are normal. Notice any thoughts and emotions that show up during this time. Allow anything that shows up to flow naturally. Tears and strong emotions are also normal. When you feel done remove each crystal and thank them for their work. Journal, Drink plenty of fluids, get some rest and cleanse the crystals for future use.

What crystals do I need?

Always and only choose crystals by intuitive feeling. Whatever crystal or crystals you feel drawn to are the ones you need. Take a look around a crystal store in your neighborhood. The store owner should be knowledgeable about what each crystal does. Choose a few small crystals that you feel drawn to and ask the owner what each one is for. You'll likely notice a theme with the crystals  (i.e.  confidence, heart chakra, openness, new beginnings, etc.) From there you can begin to intentionally work with crystals that carry that theme.

Will crystals work in my pocket?

Yes. But they work best when they are close and/or touching your body. Even better if they touch the energy center they're associated with. Try wrapping the crystal in copper to help increase its energy output if you're keeping it in your pocket.

Where should crystals be placed in the home?

Crystals should be placed around your house according to the energy it gives off. Placing cleansing crystals by the front door to clear your and guests' energy. Calming or sensual crystals in the bedroom. Communication & Creativity crystals in your workspace.

Do crystals vibrate?

In short, yes. Everything vibrates and carries a vibration. If you are sensitive to energy you can feel the crystal's energy vibrating and moving through your body.

What crystal is best for you?

The best crystal for you is the crystal that you feel connected to. Once you've been working with crystals for a while, you can intentionally choose specific crystals based on what you are working on. Please note that if a crystal does not want to work with you, it will disappear or give you really gnarly vibes.

Crystals and Water

It's best to avoid putting your crystals in water for any longer than a few seconds. Quartz crystals are generally considered to be water safe, while crystals like selenite will dissolve in water. Check the water safety and the MOHs of a crystal before exposing your crystals to water. It is important to note that crystal bracelets are typically coated and are fine when exposed to water for basic hand washing.

My Favorite Crystals

If you've read through these crystal questions, you'll see that the crystal that I recommend the most is Kyanite. This is because it is a high vibrational crystal that works well with my energy and it clears and aligns all of the chakra centers. My absolute favorite crystals are the blue and black versions. I also love selenite because it is the very first crystal that I had a spiritual awakening with. It cleanses itself and charges other crystals which means that it is not only high vibrational but carries multiple purposes. That is super helpful when you are just starting out with crystals and don't have a lot of money to spend.
